Joanna Burke is an artist, art educator, lecturer, advisor, and consultant. She received her B.A. from College of New Rochelle and completed her masters studies from New York University, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and University of California Los Angeles. After a teaching career in Boston she became a successful New York gallerist of emerging artists and late Modern masterworks at the prestigious Tower Gallery. Her curated shows have been apart of the International Painting Exhibition in Venice, California and the U.S. Painting Exhibition in Paris, France. Burke has also organized the “Emerging Artist of Southern California” and the National Conference of 1984. In 1987 Burke came to the West Coast and founded Joanna Burke Art Consultants Inc. During this time, she arranged “Marketing For the Interior Designer” at the Pacific Design Center and “Creativity in Business” at SPARC (Social Public Art Resource Center). She also curated Wilshire Boulevard: The Miracle Miles at the Los Angeles Conservancy, Light and Space in Santa Monica, and Home Despair at the PDC (Pacific Design Center).
Joanna Burke has established a solid reputation for creativity and quality in the art, architecture, and design communities as a curator and organizer. She has worked with some of the most renowned and prominent interior designers and architects in the United States including Tom Stringer, Thomas Lavin, Gensler, Lee Burkhard, Liu, Michael Smith and Michael Berman. Burke has served on the Board of Trustees in Southern California Chapter of the Institute of Business Designers, the L.A. Office of the New Art Examiner Magazine, and was a board member of Free Arts for Abused Children. Currently, she is a member of ArtTable (1995 – present) and Malibu Chamber of Commerce Executive Board (2003 – present).
